Lodging at The Royal Bighorn

The Royal Bighorn Club is located on 40 acres, nestled in the cottonwoods on the banks of the Bighorn River.  From the deck or fire pit, only the river, waterfowl, and rustling leaves can be heard.  It is an escape from the stress and demands of our modern world.

There are six rooms for guests and a central lodge with a nice living room and bar, where the guests eat meals and socialize about days chasing trout. Evenings are spent enjoying a drink on the deck over-looking the river while our chef serves up appetizers before capping the day off with an exceptional meal. If you would like to fish a little more, our river in front of the lodge can offer some great evening dry fly fishing.

Bighorn river The lodge has an oversized deck, a screened in deck, a spacious living/dining room, small bar, bathroom, and a large professional kitchen.  If it happens to be a cold day, the fireplace will warm you up.

As a guest, you will have a private room with a private bath. Generally, we will be operating the lodge for six guests at a time, but we can accommodate up to twelve guests should you want to have a larger group.  How many lodges give their guests a private room?

Each guest room has an entrance on the parking lot side which has a bench, wader hooks, and rod holders.  On the other side, there is a sliding glass door that opens out to the river.  Many of our guests on nice evenings enjoy leaving the screen door open so they can fall asleep to the river and birds.  There is a queen and single bed in each room, private bath, and air conditioning and heat.  The private bath has a sink, separate heat, and a large tiled walk in shower.

The property is 40 acres of river bottom with deer and pheasants crowing in the distance.  We have a boat launch on the property.  It is the perfect end to a fishing day, as your guide can drop you off at the lodge rifle, or deck,  while they go down to the boat ramp to take care of everything.  We also have a jet boat that you can use to depart for fishing right from the lodge.

The Royal Bighorn Lodge is located about 20 highway miles downstream from the Afterbay.  It is located on less fished section of the river, but do not be fooled there are plenty of good fish to be had like this one recently caught in front of the lodge.

The Royal Bighorn Club is the perfect home-base to explore one of MT’s most special trout fisheries.  You can sit by the campfire, listen to the birds, and watch as the sun sets over the Montana prairie.  The lodge itself is as much of a highlight as the fishing is!
